Liquid Landscapes

Stage Projection

A collaboration with award-winning American director, choreographer, and media artist Stephan Koplowitz, who has created highly acclaimed, site-specific performances on a grand scale, for iconic locations such as New York’s Grand Central Station (Fenestrations) and London’s Natural History Museum (Grand Canyon). Liquid Landscapes, an international three year site-specific project with Stephan’s touring dance company TaskForce, drew inspiration from the architecture, history, culture and ecology of multiple sites within a single geographic area all connected by the common theme of water, with the performances made up of a combination of site-specific choreography, site-adaptive material and improvisational scores inspired by each performance site. As part of Liquid Landscapes‘s UK leg, I created the video stage projection for Task Force‘s performance held in the spectacular Great Barn at Buckland Abbey, former home of Sir Francis Drake. The projections introduced flow and light, integrated into the site’s impressive stone architecture and creating a link between the high vaulted space and the dancers at ground-level.
