Like A Fish Out Of Water

Multimedia Performance

A five star reviewed collaboration with English National Ballet, a multimedia performance by Seven Sisters Group commissioned by the Greater London Authority on the occasion of the 2012 London Olympics. The show, which incorporates integrated dance video shot above and underwater, blends site-specific performance and handheld video technology, featuring artists, dancers, actors and stage-design, to fuse live and mediated performance, and create a real-life fairytale, leading audiences on a magical journey. As film-maker and director of video I worked together with director and choreographer Susanne Thomas and designer Sophie Jump to seamlessly integrate live-performance, site, and video. The production involved work in studio, outdoors at two London open-air pool locations, and underwater in a special dive pool, where dancers were required to perform 3.5m under water.

Like a Fish Out of Water was also presented as part of Big Dance 2012, the UK’s biggest ever celebration of dance. Big Dance was led by the Mayor of London, Arts Council England and the Foundation for Community Dance.

Like A Fish Out Of Water is the winner of the World Stage Design 2013 Gold Award.
